We’ve seen some incredible homes and rooms created by the talented contestants on home reno shows such as The Block over the years. As Shaynna Blaze would say, “Expression is the greatest form of freedom” and after some extensive research (and some great TV) we think we have cracked the code on creating some inspiring award winning spaces for your upcoming renovation project!
In this blog we will discuss ways to furnish and style a holiday home and create the perfect relaxing ‘getaway’ by featuring fantastic storage solutions, multi-functional furniture such as sofa beds, bunk & trundle beds, or extendable dining tables, as well as some great styling and decor tips along the way. To start, we’ll focus on main spaces such as the master bedroom, guest and kids rooms, dining and living rooms and the home office.

Creating a Relaxing Coastal Haven:
It’s imperative that holiday homes create a warm and relaxing environment that can be universally enjoyed by both family and guests alike. Whether this is a holiday home you’re using for yourself, or one you plan to rent out, the atmosphere and aesthetics of the property need to be at the forefront and set the tone and mood of relaxation and serenity.
The master bedroom is an important space to get right, as we know how hard parents work and how stressful life can be - so by creating a mature yet warm and cosy space, we can set the mood for relaxation and ensure the adults are getting their much needed downtime!
When talking about the ‘Coastal’ look, not everything has to be wicker and bleached timber, however there are chic and sophisticated ways of incorporating these elements and mixing textures, materials and organic shapes that elevate the space. Using a mixture of light timbers, marble, wicker and adding light linens on the soft furnishings and curtains will add warmth and softness to the space, while also including soft organic shapes in the decor, mirrors and vases.
Below we have styled a beautiful master bedroom and have listed all the items you can find:

Multifunctional Furniture & Storage Solutions:
When it comes to holiday homes, kids and guest rooms provide an opportunity to use multifunctional pieces which allow family and guests to create versatile spaces, and also allows for more spaces to sleep!
For the kids bedroom we have suggested the Myer King Single Bunk with Trundle which allows for 3 people to sleep in this space, and as the beds are a king single size they are perfect for kids or adults alike! The trundle bed can be removed completely and positioned somewhere else within the space (or a different room) to allow for more versatile sleeping options. The bunks can also be separated into two separate beds!

Where Comfort Meets Functionality:
The dining and living room are the heart and soul of any house and the place where family, friends and guests will spend most of their time together. It’s important to get the overall mood and aesthetics right for this space, while also keeping the comfort and functionality levels high! Creative ways to do this is by using multifunctional furniture, such as sofa beds in the living room or extension dining tables in the dining area - as you can further increase the body count for how many people can stay, while also allowing more space around the dining table!
In the living room, we have included various occasional pieces of furniture which can be moved around the space, but we have also included the Siesta Sofa Bed which effectively turns into a large bed for 2 (or more) people! Check out the styling inspo for this space below:
