It is common for outdoor rugs to be made with man made fibres that are durable, low maintenance, weather and stain resistant and in some cases water resistant. However not all outdoor rugs will encompass all of these properties, so it is always best to check specific information for individual rugs.

Some outdoor rugs are made from hardier natural fibres like hemp or sisal however these materials can be quite rough under foot. Whilst a good option for door mats they may not offer the most comfortable foundation for larger settings.
